Black Walnut wood from Colorado is highly valued for its dark, durable quality. Sadly, many black walnut trees in Boulder have succumbed to The Thousand Cankers Disease, a fungal infection spread by the walnut twig beetle. This type of wood ranks among my favorites to turn, along with Aspen. When exploring the Colorado mountains, my friends and I frequently come across white tail deer shed antlers, which we collect. The 1800 flat barbwire included in this product is from Kansas, nicknamed "Devils rope". Upon its introduction in late1800, barbed wire was notorious for causing injuries to livestock and humans alike, earning it the nickname "devil's rope" by religious groups. Despite its challenges, creating this piece has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Truly a one-of-a-kind product!
